India Inks Deal With France for 36 Rafale Fighter Jets By:  Pierre Tran and Vivek Raghuvanshi,   September 23, 2016   (Photo Credit: Indian Ministry of Defence) PARIS and NEW DELHI — India has signed a contract for 36 Rafale fighter jets, manufacturer Dassault Aviation said.  “France and India signed today [Sept. 23] the contract for the acquisition of 36 Rafale by India,” the company said in a statement. The spokesman for Dassault declined to give financial details.  India's Cabinet Committee on Security — the highest body in the government for the purchase of weapons and equipment, chaired by the prime minister — had cleared the intergovernmental agreement on Sept. 22.  French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and his Indian counterpart, Manohar Parrikar, played key roles in forging the deal, Dassault said.  According to a source in the Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD), the order is worth about €7.89 billion...

Pakistan To Participate In Turkey’s TFX Next-Gen Fighter Aircraft Program   Turkey has invited Pakistan to participate in the development of its next-generation fighter program, TFX. Pakistan’s Minister of Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain in an interview with PTV last Sunday, said that Turkey had requested Islamabad to be part of the development program for its next-generation fighter aircraft. Turkey is evaluating proposals for purchasing training aircraft for the Turkish Air Force, and Pakistan’s Super Mushshak trainer aircraft is a leading contender. A final decision is likely soon. As for future collaboration, both countries are in discussions over possible cooperation on Turkey's first indigenous FX Fighter Jet program, Anadolu agency had quoted unnamed sources as saying in June this year.
